Practical and Affordable Logo Design

Marshall Home Repair did not have a large budget for a logo design, but they wanted to stand out amongst the crowded field of home repair service providers in Southwest Missouri, a market in which most independent service providers rely on word-of-mouth and the company name typed out in a free font.

Rather than spend their budget on developing multiple concepts, Barrelmaker designed something simple, but instantly recognizable and memorable. The name "Marshall" is accentuated with an energetic shape that is unmistakably a roof line with a chimney. The star, which sits in the location of the iconic attic window, is an enduring symbol of guidance, hope, and positivity while also evoking the badge of a trusted authority figure. Enough of the budget was left that they were able to have the logo applied to their work trucks and have new business cards designed.

Logo design is one of the most prestigious and contentious of graphic design disciplines, which means it can also be a very expensive service, but it doesn't have to be. Sometimes the difference between blending in and standing out can come down to a couple recognizable shapes and well-designed text.
